Description of the route
This walk starts at the entrance to Jijona coming from Alicante along the CV-800 road, in the park Barranc de la Font, where you will find an information board with details of the walk. Cross the town centre and take the Jijona – Tibi road. Take the turn-off to the Jijona S.A. factory. Here you will see the wooden signposts typical of a country walk which take us through the rural areas of Cotelles, El Rigüet, and Nutxes until we reach Font i Penyes de Roset – the Roset Spring and Rocks.
The rural area comes to an end and the path heads into the lower reaches of the Carrasqueta mountain range on its western extreme, rising to the Llibreria (“library” rock formation).
The path continues along a narrow pass and takes us to the Salt del Moro (a dry waterfall). From here we follow a long but not particularly steep hill known as the Costera d’Ibi and we arrive at a forest path, which takes us to La Font de Vivens (Vivens Spring).
Following the signposts from La Font de Vivens we move along a path which rises through a wood of Aleppo pines until we reach L’Alt de la Martina or del Salivar (Martina Heights).
From this point we begin a steep descent along Barranc de Castalla (Castalla Ravine) until we reach the northern spur of Les Penyes de Roset arriving at the confluence of Els Quatre Barrancs (The Four Ravines).
We return to the pathway from the dry riverbed and head for Font de Nutxes (Nutxes Spring).
The return to Jijona is along the same pathway which brought us to this point.
