El Salt, as its name suggests, is a setting in which there is a waterfall of more than 20m where the water flows all year round, keeping the atmosphere cool.
The rock pools tempt one to bathe in summer and the recreational area with its tables and benches set out under the shade of the waterside trees invites one to picnic.
Fish, crayfish and turtles can be seen in the small pools, and access is provided by a safe, comfortable path with handrails. There is also a small car park and an observation point where one can look over the channel the water has carved into the rock over the centuries.
To reach the park from Alicante, turn off at the junction on the CV-800 next to the cemetery, head towards Jijona and near to the town’s secondary school there is a sign which indicates the access to a well-paved country road which takes us to the recreation area.
Arriving from the Alcoy direction, at the entrance to Jijona we turn left and head in the direction of the cemetery where we will find the signs to get to the park. The visitor can choose to go by car or take a pleasant 30-minute walk to get there.
